Humboldt County Board of Supervisors Places Moratorium on Cultivation of New Industrial Hemp

HCGA supported the moratorium.

  • Due to a lack of regulatory guidance of from CDFA.

  • This is a land-use issue that requires public process to determine if, how and where hemp could be possible within the county.

  • Lack of science to determine the risks of cross-pollination and established mitigations to protect cannabis and hemp crops.

This conversation abut industrial hemp in Humboldt County is just beginning. The county placed a moratorium on cultivation of new sites with hemp. Cannabis permit holders are able to grow low THC cannabis on their project locations. Stay tuned as a new public process emerges. HCGA looks forward to engaging with our member about this topic moving forward.
