Any active/current, plant-touching member of HCGA (not Allied Industry Businesses, AIBs) may nominate themselves for the Policy Committee.
Members need to apply for a seat based on the Supervisorial District in which their primary business is located (not the place of residence). Follow this link to see what Supervisor District your business is in.
The nomination period is open from Wednesday, January 23, 9:00 AM to Friday, February 1 at 5:00 PM
The nominees are voted on by the plant-touching members. Members are able to vote in all districts.
The election will be open from Monday, February at 6:00 AM to Friday, February 8 at 5:00 PM.
HCGA is using a secure, online election software. Members will be emailed a ballot through the Election Buddy system. There is only one vote/one email sent per member.
Policy Committee members are elected year, and if re-elected, may have unlimited terms.
The Policy Committee members are expected to attend the weekly 1-hour Industry Affairs Call on Wednesday mornings from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, and the weekly the 30 minute Policy Committee call to vote on policy decisions.Member businesses may assign their staff member to the Policy Committee.
*Remember, the elected members of the Policy Committee represent the other business members within their district*
The Humboldt County Growers Alliance (HCGA) Governmental Affairs Program provides state-level governmental relations, public policy, and advocacy activities on behalf of the plant-touching members of HCGA.
The Government Affairs Program is directed by the Policy Committee, and implemented by HCGA staff members, in conjunction with a lobbyist based in Sacramento.

The entire HCGA membership (AIBs included) is invited to participate on a weekly, Wednesday Industry Affairs call where state policy positions will be openly discussed. The Policy Committee will meet once a week by conference call to vote on discussed policy decisions.
